What is a CBD Tincture?
CBD Tinctures are the most common way you'll find CBD Oil packaged. It's a small bottle which normally has a dropped attached to the lid, and it allows you to administer the Oil in whatever way you see fit, and in any amount that you feel is necessary for your needs.
What's the best way to administer a CBD Tincture?
Everybody has different needs from CBD, but generally for the best bioavailability we would recommend taking a few drops, depending on what strength you would require, and placing it under your tongue and holding the oil there for a few minutes, or as long as possible to get the best results.
Alternatively you can ingest the oil directly or add it to food or drink, this is great if you haven't got the time to wait for it to be absorbed or simply if you're not keen on the flavour. The downside is your metabolism doesn't always manage to absorb everything when it reaches your stomach, and you will get a more potent and gradual release by taking it under the tongue.
Great news is there are flavoured oils on the market if this is something you'd rather.
How do I Calculate the Dose of my Tincture?
This can be slightly tricky but is quite straightforward when you know how!
Simply divide the bottle size by the strength of the bottle. So if you have a 10ml bottle with 500mg of CBD then divide 500 by 10. This will tell you there is 50mg per 1ml of oil.
Most tinctures will have a 1ml dropper, and from this you're likely to have around 20 drops of oil. So if you want to break this down further then divide number above by 20. In this example that would give you 2.5mg of CBD per drop.
